This is one of my most anticipated workshops of the year—and it’s easy to see why. The Ikara - Flinders Ranges National Park is nothing short of a photographer’s paradise, and I can’t wait to share it with you!

Located in South Australia, about 430 km north of Adelaide, this incredible park boasts ancient rock formations dating back hundreds of millions of years. Every corner of this majestic landscape offers an endless array of photography opportunities, from dramatic gorges to vast plains, striking geological features, and abundant wildlife. Over the course of 5 days and 6 nights, we’ll stay at the Wilpena Pound Resort, perfectly situated right in the heart of the ranges. This provides the perfect base for exploring the spectacular Ikara-Flinders Ranges, one of South Australia’s most iconic natural wonders. With its rugged mountain landscapes, peaceful gorges, seasonal wildlife, and timeless beauty, this is a place that will leave you speechless—and your camera full.

What Will We Explore?

Throughout our workshop, we will immerse ourselves in the natural beauty of the Flinders Ranges, with a focus on some of the most photographically rich locations in the area:

• Bunyeroo Valley – A stunning valley full of rich geological features and dramatic vistas.
• Brachina Gorge – Known for its ancient rock formations and unique light for photography.
• Blinman Township – A charming town with rich cultural history and great photographic opportunities.
• Rawnsley Bluff – A perfect location to capture the grandeur of the Flinders Ranges.
• Aroona Valley – Explore vast open spaces and dramatic ranges.
• Glass Gorge – An iconic spot known for its striking landscapes and clear, light-filled views.
• Moralana Gorge – A peaceful, tree-lined gorge offering a wealth of photographic opportunities.
• Wildlife – From kangaroos and rock wallabies to wedge-tailed eagles, the Flinders Ranges offers abundant opportunities to capture native Australian wildlife in its natural habitat.

And, to top it all off, we’ll take a 30-minute scenic flight over Wilpena Pound and its surroundings. This aerial experience offers a unique perspective on the vast geological formations and will allow you to capture breathtaking shots from above.

What’s Included?

• 5 Nights Accommodation: Stay in a Superior Room at Wilpena Pound Resort, just steps from the ranges. Choose from single or shared rooms.
• All Transfers: From Adelaide CBD to Wilpena Pound (pick-up on June 16th at 7:30 AM) and return on June 21st (drop-off by 5:00 PM).
• Private Transport: Travel in comfort with 2 private 4WD vehicles throughout the tour.
• Fully Guided Photography Tuition: You’ll receive expert photography guidance, from framing to exposure, to help you make the most of every location.
• Scenic Flight: Enjoy a 30-minute flight over Wilpena Pound’s iconic geological features (weather permitting).
• Meals: All meals are provided at Wilpena Pound except for lunch on Day 1 and Day 6.
• Small Group Size: With a maximum of 6 participants, you’ll enjoy plenty of personalized attention and lots of time to explore this magnificent landscape.

Fitness Level Required: Low to Moderate

The terrain is accessible with some walking along gravel paths, but there’s nothing too strenuous. It’s perfect for all levels of fitness.
