Bruny Island Photography Workshop
1–4 March 2029 | 3 night / 4 Days | Just 6 Places Available
Explore, Photograph & Experience Bruny Island
Join us for an unforgettable 4-day photography adventure on Bruny Island, one of Tasmania’s most spectacular and diverse photographic destinations.
Just a short journey from Hobart, Bruny Island feels like a world away. Dramatic coastlines, towering sea cliffs, pristine beaches, temperate rainforest, abundant wildlife and some of Tasmania’s darkest night skies combine to create an incredible environment for photography.
With a maximum of just six participants, this is a relaxed and highly personalised workshop designed to give you plenty of time to explore, photograph and learn.
You’ll be guided by two experienced photographers, with tuition available throughout the workshop to help you get the most from your camera and develop your photography skills.
Three Days of Photography on Bruny Island
From spectacular sunrises and sunsets to wildlife encounters and night-sky photography, every day will bring new opportunities.
Our private mini-bus will allow us to explore the island at a relaxed pace, visiting some of Bruny Island’s most iconic locations while also allowing time to discover lesser-known photographic opportunities along the way.
We’ll base ourselves at Hotel Bruny Lodges, giving us a comfortable home for our three-night stay and an ideal location from which to explore the island.
There is no need to rush from location to location. We’ll take the time to assess the conditions, look for the best compositions and make the most of whatever Tasmania’s weather delivers.
Photographic Highlights
The Neck
Photograph one of Bruny Island’s most recognisable landscapes as the sun rises or sets over the narrow isthmus connecting North and South Bruny.
Bruny Island Lighthouse
Explore one of Tasmania’s most iconic coastal locations, with opportunities to photograph the lighthouse, surrounding cliffs and spectacular Southern Ocean scenery.
Cloudy Bay
A wild and beautiful stretch of coastline offering dramatic seascapes, sweeping beaches and excellent opportunities for sunset photography.
Bruny Island Rainforests
Slow down and explore the island's lush temperate forests, looking for intimate compositions, textures, patterns and beautiful filtered light.
Wildlife Photography
Bruny Island is home to an incredible variety of wildlife. Keep your camera ready for wallabies, seals, dolphins, seabirds and, if we're lucky, the island's famous white wallabies.
Photography from the Water
Our Pennicott Wilderness Adventure Cruise provides a completely different perspective of Bruny Island, with opportunities to photograph towering cliffs, sea caves, rock formations and wildlife from the water.
Astrophotography & Aurora
When conditions allow, we'll head out beneath Bruny Island's exceptionally dark southern skies for night photography.
Depending on conditions, there may be opportunities to photograph the Milky Way, star trails and the Aurora Australis.

Small Group. More Photography. More Tuition.
With only six places available, this workshop is deliberately kept small.
A smaller group means less time waiting, more flexibility and more opportunity for individual assistance.
Whether you want help with exposure, composition, focusing, filters, long exposures, wildlife photography or night photography, there will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and receive practical guidance in the field.
This isn't a workshop where you're simply dropped at a location and left to work it out yourself.
We'll be there with you, photographing alongside you and helping you make the most of every opportunity.
Fitness Level
Low to Moderate
This workshop is suitable for most photographers with a reasonable level of mobility.
There will be some walking on gravel paths, uneven surfaces and stairs, but no strenuous hikes are required.
The emphasis is on photography rather than physical exertion.
